Even though this weather is fickle and it’s only actually winter every other week, I thought I’d put together a list of fun things to do for those intermittent miserable days.
This list is targeted towards Toronto, since that’s where I live, but no reason you can’t do the same activities in your own town. Read more
As you know, I’ve been partnering up with Malu to bring you giveaways here on the blog. Throughout our collaboration I had the privilege to get to know Malu and am proud to call her a good friend.
Malu is so wonderful and kind that she created a custom pair of booties just for me! If that wasn’t enough, these babies are part on the Fall/Winter collection, and ARE NAMED AFTER ME! That’s right, the Fanny can be all yours this fall! I have to tell you that not only are these booties unique – with their cutout design, and extremely high quality – high end Italian leather, they are also comfortable and well thought out. The heel is thick enough to allow you to rock it all day long. Not only that, but the grip is superb, so I wouldn’t even hesitate to wear them in the winter (with tights). In true Malu fashion, there is of course a touch of kindness, via a gold plated “I love you” message. And I certainly am in love with these shoes!
Here are a few outfits I’ve styled with these awesome Fanny booties by Malu: Read more
Although the week isn’t over there is already a trend you just can’t turn away from. Baroque was everywhere, at least in part, and I’m not complaining! While of course we can’t overlook the prominence of the 70’s and beautiful rich tones, fun uses of fur pieces, and pops of bright orange, gold shined like a star and here are a few examples of baroque on the runway:
Badgley Mischka is the best example. The entire collection made use of beautiful and intricate gold fabrics and appliqués. Read more
With Spring around the corner (or so says the calendar) these could not come at a better time!
The first thing I noticed about this lineup of Aveeno Fresh Essentials is the smell. The fresh scent itself is enough to rejuvenate tired skin. My sister came over the other day and used the facial scrub and those were her first words too. It smells amazing! Another wonderful factor common to all 3 products is they are oil-free.
Full disclosure: These were sent to me for free to try out and share my opinion.
1. Fresh Essentials Daily Exfoliating Scrub
The great thing about a scrub is that it can be used to remove makeup and deep clean your pores at the same time, leaving you with perfectly clean skin after the makeup’s all gone. Personally my skin can be sensitive and scrubs that are too harsh tend to leave it red and irritated. The texture of this scrub feels very smooth at first, but as you begin to rub it between your hands you start to feel tiny beads. These tiny beads are so gentle that even if you have sensitive skin, like mine, your skin will be left feeling exfoliated but not red and irritated. This was a huge factor for me. Definite bonus points right there! Read more
Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean our clothes have to reflect the drab colour scheme of slushy days. Instead why not embrace the cold and bundle up in cute cozy knits, and fun detail? Let’s spice up this weather with adorable outfits that will make you look and feel fabulous!
A great place to start is Lookbook Store. I absolutely love this website!! There are way too many awesome pieces to list, but here are some great picks:
Winter is not all doom and gloom. It’s a time to be cozy, layer up and bundle up. Sure it’s cold, but that means over-sized sweaters and cute hats. It also means winter scents – indoors and out. And if you’re into winter sports there’s also that! Among all those wonderful things I do have a few favorites. And while I’m no Oprah, here are a few of my favorite winter products:
1. My Awesome Olive Headband: from Little Burgundy *PS. It just went on sale
Last year I was rocking the beanie, this year this headband is my go-to. You can wear it over your hair if it’s down, or pull your hair through and wear it up. Read more
Every year when fall begins to arrive I look outside and start day dreaming about all of the outfits I’m going to pull together. I start planning beautiful walks in the park surrounded by the changing foliage, sporting a boots-sweater-scarf combo in beautiful deep hues. I bust out my sweaters, put away beachwear, do a mini overhaul in the process and excitedly await my opportunity to get out there and enjoy. But before I have the chance to soak in the crisp air, crunchy leaves, and light sunshine, I find myself miserably crawling along the highway cursing winter driving. Fall is just a prelude for the wrath of winter which inevitably creeps up on us far too quickly. One day you’re debating which fall boots to wear, and the next you’re cleaning snow off your car! While I’m definitely thankful that I’m not in Buffalo right now, I feel like I didn’t get the chance to say goodbye to fall. It came and went so fast. I’m sorry if I’m not my usual optimistic self, but a girl’s gotta rant!
Now that winter is here I feel confused and unprepared. Quite frankly I’m excited for weekends during winter – cool walks in my awesome new boots, snow tubing, skiing, and playing in the snow. But weekdays are a whole different beast, especially if you’re getting dressed for work: Read more
