Botties Booties Booties!!

Botties Booties Booties!!

I have some majorly exciting news to share!!!

As you know, I’ve been partnering up with Malu to bring you giveaways here on the blog. Throughout our collaboration I had the privilege to get to know Malu and am proud to call her a good friend.

Malu is so wonderful and kind that she created a custom pair of booties just for me! If that wasn’t enough, these babies are part on the Fall/Winter collection, and ARE NAMED AFTER ME! That’s right, the Fanny can be all yours this fall! I have to tell you that not only are these booties unique – with their cutout design, and extremely high quality – high end Italian leather, they are also comfortable and well thought out. The heel is thick enough to allow you to rock it all day long. Not only that, but the grip is superb, so I wouldn’t even hesitate to wear them in the winter (with tights). In true Malu fashion, there is of course a touch of kindness, via a gold plated “I love you” message. And I certainly am in love with these shoes!

Why the Beginning of winter is just…awful!

Why the Beginning of winter is just…awful!

Every year when fall begins to arrive I look outside and start day dreaming about all of the outfits I’m going to pull together. I start planning beautiful walks in the park surrounded by the changing foliage, sporting a boots-sweater-scarf combo in beautiful deep hues. I bust out my sweaters, put away beachwear, do a mini overhaul in the process and excitedly await my opportunity to get out there and enjoy. But before I have the chance to soak in the crisp air, crunchy leaves, and light sunshine, I find myself miserably crawling along the highway cursing winter driving. Fall is just a prelude for the wrath of winter which inevitably creeps up on us far too quickly. One day you’re debating which fall boots to wear, and the next you’re cleaning snow off your car! While I’m definitely thankful that I’m not in Buffalo right now, I feel like I didn’t get the chance to say goodbye to fall. It came and went so fast. I’m sorry if I’m not my usual optimistic self, but a girl’s gotta rant!

Now that winter is here I feel confused and unprepared. Quite frankly I’m excited for weekends during winter – cool walks in my awesome new boots, snow tubing, skiing, and playing in the snow. But weekdays are a whole different beast, especially if you’re getting dressed for work: Read more

Fashion Week – the Good the Bad and the Bullshit

With New York and London Fashions weeks behind us, and Milan fashion week in full swing I think it’s time I share my 2 cents. Although I wasn’t actually there, thanks to the internet I sure feel like I was!

Let’s start with the bullshit:

A Tough Neutral

A Tough Neutral

First of all, sorry about the little break in posts! I’ve been traveling and will be sharing some pictures soon! Now back to business…

Black Pants. Weren’t we always told that everything goes with black? Black is a neutral and you just can’t go wrong. Just like a LBD is a life saver, I thought that was the job of black pants too. Nope.

Black pants are like a negative space. Might as well be a hole. I’m sure you’ve noticed that recently we’ve moved away from classic bottoms and into colourful and/or patterned pants. As well, we’ve been moving away from the straight leg, and into the skinny & cropped.

But since we all still have a pair of black pants in our closets let’s talk about ways to pull them off. If done right they can look stellar!

The solution:

The problem with black pants is that they don’t provide enough visual interest so you should compensate in other areas: a fun top, funky jewelry, a colourful shoe or bag etc. You can play it up and it won’t be too much.

Tips:

1. Contrast! Avoid pairing black pants with a boring neutral top. To brighten up your outfit try either a light or a bright top. White always looks fantastic, especially with some interesting jewelry.

2. Structure! If you’re trying to pull off a straight leg pant I suggest to go for a more fitted top to create a more put together look.
