Headband Series #1 An Intro!

Headband Series #1 An Intro!

Hi lovelies!

I won’t keep you waiting any longer. The time has come for me to share my awesome new Pink Pewter headbands with you, along with some simple hairstyles. These headbands are so gorgeous that they dress up any hairstyle, or lack thereof.

I’ve been playing with them all weekend but I first wore one to work this morning, and let me tell you, if you need an ego boost – wear Pink Pewter headbands! I can’t remember the last time I received this many compliments! These headbands are certainly unique and grab your attention, not to mention sparkly. Everyone loves sparkly.

Pink Pewter was kind enough to send me 4 samples of their beautiful pieces, and I intend on sharing them with you all week long!! The brand has a huge celeb following, and it’s no wonder with each piece being so beautifully unique and emanating the passion and love-for-the-art put into it. They are widely distributed internationally, and in Canada they can be found at Trade Secrets, or online at Amazon.ca

5 Work Wardrobe Essentials

5 Work Wardrobe Essentials

Looking cute is a must, but dressing appropriately is paramount! Since Monday to Friday mornings usually consist of attempting to look adorable while pulling something from your closet with your eyes still half shut, anything to calm us down and reclaim some time in the morning is certainly welcome! I find that having an organized work wardrobe is just the ticket! You want to make sure that your pieces are interesting and reflect your personality, but versatile and can be mix-and-matched at the same time.

1. Invest in versatile dresses

Dresses that can go from season to season with the simple addition of a cardigan are a great investment since you’ll get the most use out of them. Pretty much as long as the fabric isn’t too thin and summery you’re good to go!

I definitely have a thing for damask and jacquard as you can tell! Blazer by Darling  Read more

Golden Globe Awards 2015!

Golden Globe Awards 2015!

Well we’re officially into award season and red carpet events are in full swing. This weekend we saw one of the most exciting and star studded red carpets, filled with beautiful stars, heart warming speeches, and some definite trends.

What stood out to me was the amount of super low V’s – some more tasteful than others, LOTS of mettallics, followed by beautiful light yellows, and whites. Of course no matter the year no red carpet is complete without a few dramatic reds, blues/navys, and black.

Positivity and Fearless Authenticity!

Positivity and Fearless Authenticity!

Hi my lovely darling readers!!

I recently read the follow up to The Monk Who Sold His FerrariThe Secret Letters of the Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, and I couldn’t put it down! Needless to say, I recommend it. I don’t intent to regurgitate the storyline. Instead I want to talk about a few of the lessons Robin Sharma so poignantly describes in this gem of a book, because they couldn’t be more relevant!

As I delve further into blogging, and explore the journey of building my own brand, my voice, and ultimately becoming a ‘real’ blogger I can attest to all of the 9 lessons the book seeks to teach us. It doesn’t matter where you currently are in your life the lessons shared are meant to put you on your own individual path to happiness. Not everyone will have a rich cousin to send them around the world in search of enlightenment, but it makes for a good story, and reading this book will get you one step closer to repatriating your mind with fresh, unique, feel-good-because-I’m-awesome ideas. A Few of My Favorite (Winter) Things

A Few of My Favorite (Winter) Things

Happy second official day of winter!

Winter is not all doom and gloom. It’s a time to be cozy, layer up and bundle up. Sure it’s cold, but that means over-sized sweaters and cute hats. It also means winter scents – indoors and out. And if you’re into winter sports there’s also that! Among all those wonderful things I do have a few favorites. And while I’m no Oprah, here are a few of my favorite winter products:

1. My Awesome Olive Headband: from Little Burgundy *PS. It just went on sale

Last year I was rocking the beanie, this year this headband is my go-to. You can wear it over your hair if it’s down, or pull your hair through and wear it up. Read more

New Year’s Eve Weddington Wedding Challenge!

New Year’s Eve Weddington Wedding Challenge!

Challenge accepted Weddington Way!

The challenge? Create the perfect look for a New Year’s Eve wedding! The biggest hurdle here was narrowing down the choices since there are as many possibilities as there are colours!

Whether you’re planning a party or a wedding and looking for a dress for your bridal party, Weddington Way is a great place to start. Unlike retail stores Weddington Way lets you customize your dress(es) meaning each bridesmaid will end up with the perfect dress. Sure you can do that in specialty bridal boutiques as well, but the price difference is huge! Weddington way lets you customize your dress based on colour, theme, style, length etc. AND is very reasonably priced. You`re sure to find something you and your entire bridal party will like.

I had a hard time narrowing down the selection but here are my top 5 looks. You can view my entire inspiration board here on my Pinterest page.

1. Red & Gold

Red and gold are always a classic party look! I find this particular dress both sexy and elegant and definitely a classic for years to come. Have fun with your accessories – stick to a theme but everything doesn’t have to match!

Ride On!

Ride On!

Hi lovelies! Here’s some outfit inspo for the weekend. I wore this look to the office, but I would totally wear it on the weekend too. I’ve been quite obsessed with these pants lately. I love the colour and how comfortable & fun, yet work appropriate they are at the same time. Black and white with some metallic detailing is of course very easy to pull off with an olive colour but there is plenty more to be paired with these pants! For starters any neutral looks great with olive – think beige, navy, brown, cream etc. At the same time if you consider complimentary colours you can easily pair different shades of orange with olive for a bold fall/winter look. Trying New Things! – The Gun Range

Trying New Things! – The Gun Range

I’m normally pretty girly but I also love to try new things! Be it new products, new foods, or a new activity I’m usually game.

skydiving 3 @splattershare

Skydiving? Of course! Let’s do it!

This weekend I tried something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time – shooting! We went to a gun range in Brantford (West of Toronto… WAY WEST). A word of caution if you’re trying to book for a Saturday keep in mind that it’s the busiest day so you’ll have to book way in advance. If you’re heading down on a weeknight, which is what we did, give yourself time to battle 401 traffic. When you finally make it there, it’s going to feel like you’ve reached the end of the world, but as soon as you step inside you’ll find the guys working there to be very friendly and welcoming.  I had no idea what to expect so I thought I would at least try to look the part. Here’s the look: Read more

Work Wear OOTD

Work Wear OOTD

I’ve been loving leather details paired with mixed prints/textures, and now that winter is here it means sweater are in the mix too! What I love about this sweater is the cool puffy shoulders, the fit, and of course how cozy it is! It definitely serves double duty too because I can wear it to work paired with a pencil skirt or dress pants, and on the weekend paired with jeans/colourful skinnys and boots for a more casual look!

Gather for the Brunchkins – Lots of Makeup and Good Things!

As you know Gather in Bowmanville hosted ‘Gather For The Brunchkins’ to raise money for Brunchkins which is a great local cause. The event was super successful! Everyone had a great time and tons of money and food donations were raised. I had the privilege of meeting wonderful women and doing mini-makeovers using Arbonne Makeup.

Why Be Mundane? A Non-Mundane #OOTD

Why Be Mundane? A Non-Mundane #OOTD

I used to be jealous of the girls that I thought always looked put together, because I never did look like that. For some reason to me put together meant monochromatic and safe. The wonderful thing about getting older is you realize you don’t have to look like anyone else, and the reason I never looked ‘put together’ is because I had a different style. I too like to look good (who doesn’t?) but looking good is equivalent to feeling good, and I feel good in clothes that represent me. I love colours and patterns, and mixing all things fun. I’m not whack (or at least I don’t think?) but I certainly don’t shy away from unique combos. Read more

Save your money – how to NOT buy shoes!

Save your money – how to NOT buy shoes!

I went to a shoe sale, and I bought… nothing! So why am I writing about this? Because the skill of holding back and stepping away from a sale took years to acquire.

I used to buy shoes for the mere enjoyment of witnessing my shoe collection expand. The more shoes the better, right? Unless you’re putting on a shoe exhibition wrong. I never wore all of the shoes that I owned. Some I kept even after they’ve served their time, others were impractical and I never actually got real use out of them (wearing them to dinner once and complaining the whole time doesn’t count).

As I get older I start to appreciate the utility of a shoes, instead of just hoarding them. Yes the shoe has to be hot but I have to either be able to wear it to work (and survive), or wear it out and not be the girl whose feet hurt. What’s the point of having shoes you don’t wear? I would rather have less shoes, and buy new ones as needed, instead of having a giant collection consisting of shoes I don’t wear, or don’t wear anymore. So as always, efficiency is key. If you wear it keep it. If you need it, buy it. Otherwise stay away.

I don’t think I’m the only one who enjoys a good sale. But the key to buying anything on sale is to buy items you love enough to pay full price for. There’s no point in buying crap you don’t love, doesn’t fit well, or doesn’t make you feel good about yourself just because it’s on sale. Believe me, based on years of experience it will not become more comfortable, your toes will always be squished in those shoes, and just because you fit into it doesn’t mean it fits you.

Mixed Patterns – The Fall Edition

Mixed Patterns – The Fall Edition

Remember my quick how-to guide to mixing patterns? Well I’m still obsessed with mixing prints and patterns, so here’s a look at a fall outfit which does just that!

As I’ve mentioned in past posts, the easiest way to rock mixed prints is by wearing a geometric pattern, stripes in particular, and paring it with a print – finishing the look off with a bold necklace. Make sure that the prints are of different sizes though so you don’t look like an optical illusion!

I hope this trend lasts…I’m quite enjoying it.

Gather Adventures! A Not-So-Hidden Gem

Gather Adventures! A Not-So-Hidden Gem

I have discovered a new gem, and although this store has been around for years now, it was a first for me because I have never been to Bowmanville before. Bowmanville is about 45 min East of the city, and it sure looks like I’ll be coming back!

The store I’m talking about is Gather, and it is the cutest boutique I have been to! All of the items are hand selected by the lovely Karen, and are all unique in their own right.

Gather Boutique in Bowmanville - @splattershare

How pretty is she?!

Karen doesn’t buy entire lines necessarily, or even outfits that are meant to be worn together. She uses her personal style, intuition, and love of fabulous things to source individual pieces that will appeal to her customers.

Gather Boutique in Bowmanville - @splattershareWhat I personally loved about this store, aside from the fact that it’s huge and you feel like a kid in a candy store, is the fact that as different and unique as the items are they are not outrageous and you can picture yourself wearing everything. There is an interesting story when it comes to every piece in the store. If you pick Karen’s brain she can tell you where everything was made and how it found its place into her store. The prices are not cheap but are completely affordable, and definitely reflect the excellent quality! Not to mention that the chances of someone else wearing the same outfit are slim!

Karen and I had a blast trying on a bunch of awesome outfits, and of course I couldn’t leave the store empty handed…
