Botties Booties Booties!!

Botties Booties Booties!!

I have some majorly exciting news to share!!!

As you know, I’ve been partnering up with Malu to bring you giveaways here on the blog. Throughout our collaboration I had the privilege to get to know Malu and am proud to call her a good friend.

Malu is so wonderful and kind that she created a custom pair of booties just for me! If that wasn’t enough, these babies are part on the Fall/Winter collection, and ARE NAMED AFTER ME! That’s right, the Fanny can be all yours this fall! I have to tell you that not only are these booties unique – with their cutout design, and extremely high quality – high end Italian leather, they are also comfortable and well thought out. The heel is thick enough to allow you to rock it all day long. Not only that, but the grip is superb, so I wouldn’t even hesitate to wear them in the winter (with tights). In true Malu fashion, there is of course a touch of kindness, via a gold plated “I love you” message. And I certainly am in love with these shoes!

A Great Trend from NYFW

A Great Trend from NYFW

Although the week isn’t over there is already a trend you just can’t turn away from. Baroque was everywhere, at least in part, and I’m not complaining! While of course we can’t overlook the prominence of the 70’s and beautiful rich tones, fun uses of fur pieces, and pops of bright orange, gold shined like a star and here are a few examples of baroque on the runway:

Badgley Mischka is the best example. The entire collection made use of beautiful and intricate gold fabrics and appliqués. Read more

Why the Beginning of winter is just…awful!

Why the Beginning of winter is just…awful!

Every year when fall begins to arrive I look outside and start day dreaming about all of the outfits I’m going to pull together. I start planning beautiful walks in the park surrounded by the changing foliage, sporting a boots-sweater-scarf combo in beautiful deep hues. I bust out my sweaters, put away beachwear, do a mini overhaul in the process and excitedly await my opportunity to get out there and enjoy. But before I have the chance to soak in the crisp air, crunchy leaves, and light sunshine, I find myself miserably crawling along the highway cursing winter driving. Fall is just a prelude for the wrath of winter which inevitably creeps up on us far too quickly. One day you’re debating which fall boots to wear, and the next you’re cleaning snow off your car! While I’m definitely thankful that I’m not in Buffalo right now, I feel like I didn’t get the chance to say goodbye to fall. It came and went so fast. I’m sorry if I’m not my usual optimistic self, but a girl’s gotta rant!

Now that winter is here I feel confused and unprepared. Quite frankly I’m excited for weekends during winter – cool walks in my awesome new boots, snow tubing, skiing, and playing in the snow. But weekdays are a whole different beast, especially if you’re getting dressed for work: Read more

New Ann Taylor Purse Preview! Fall Perfection!

New Ann Taylor Purse Preview! Fall Perfection!

I’ve been on a mission to find a new crossbody purse. I was hoping for something feminine, with metallic detail, in a beautiful colour, and maybe with an over-the-shoulder chain. Imagine my delight when i stumbled upon this beauty in Ann Taylor:

Mixed Patterns – The Fall Edition

Mixed Patterns – The Fall Edition

Remember my quick how-to guide to mixing patterns? Well I’m still obsessed with mixing prints and patterns, so here’s a look at a fall outfit which does just that!

As I’ve mentioned in past posts, the easiest way to rock mixed prints is by wearing a geometric pattern, stripes in particular, and paring it with a print – finishing the look off with a bold necklace. Make sure that the prints are of different sizes though so you don’t look like an optical illusion!

I hope this trend lasts…I’m quite enjoying it.

Gather Adventures! A Not-So-Hidden Gem

Gather Adventures! A Not-So-Hidden Gem

I have discovered a new gem, and although this store has been around for years now, it was a first for me because I have never been to Bowmanville before. Bowmanville is about 45 min East of the city, and it sure looks like I’ll be coming back!

The store I’m talking about is Gather, and it is the cutest boutique I have been to! All of the items are hand selected by the lovely Karen, and are all unique in their own right.

How pretty is she?!

Karen doesn’t buy entire lines necessarily, or even outfits that are meant to be worn together. She uses her personal style, intuition, and love of fabulous things to source individual pieces that will appeal to her customers.

Gather Boutique in Bowmanville - @splattershareWhat I personally loved about this store, aside from the fact that it’s huge and you feel like a kid in a candy store, is the fact that as different and unique as the items are they are not outrageous and you can picture yourself wearing everything. There is an interesting story when it comes to every piece in the store. If you pick Karen’s brain she can tell you where everything was made and how it found its place into her store. The prices are not cheap but are completely affordable, and definitely reflect the excellent quality! Not to mention that the chances of someone else wearing the same outfit are slim!

Karen and I had a blast trying on a bunch of awesome outfits, and of course I couldn’t leave the store empty handed…

And to add to all of the aforementioned awesomeness, there are quotes displayed all around the store, adding to the feel-good experience:

I had a total blast shopping at Gather. Karen, thank you for spending the afternoon and sharing your wonderful store with me!

Ladies, I highly recommend you check this place out! Fellas, there is an incredibly comfy chair for you at Gather!

Fall workwear #OOTD

Fall workwear #OOTD

I’ve noticed that I’ve been posting a lot of work outfits, mainly because that’s 5 days out of the week for me. But I promise to post some fun weekend and evening wear too! So stay tuned!

This is what I’m wearing to work today. I’m obsessed with these black booties! they go with everything and you can wear them for work or going out. This skirt is super simple but a great colour for fall!

Ah it’s this white skirt again! Told ya it’s versatile! From summer crop top fun to fall work wear this skirt can be paired with pretty much anything. And yes, I totally am wearing two florals – mind you one’s a finer print, and the other is more sparse.

The sweater I’m wearing is from LOFT and I love the detailing along the front and shoulders. It makes it a little more unique than a regular vneck.

Although I’m wearing many different colours they are all within the same colour pallet, thus making it easier to create a cohesive look!

Gotta love mixing prints, fun colours, and textures!

Here’s a little outfit inspiration!

Fall is the best because you can wear anything from any season with just a bit of layering. Here in Toronto it’s long sleeve weather. No need to bust out the bulky sweaters just yet (well there were a few days but we won’t talk about that). It is however the perfect time to start flaunting fall colours!]

I love deep rich hues, and everything leopard… but that’s a different post.

Outfit of the day – J.Crew dress shirt

Outfit of the day – J.Crew dress shirt

I don’t normally wear dress shirts, but boy oh boy things are about to change! I am in love with this top!

I got it at the J.Crew outlet store at the Toronto Premium Outlets in Mississauga for $35. It’s similar to this one but not quite it. I think the selection will vary by store.

It looks very professional for work, but I can definitely see myself dressing it up, wearing it with jeans, and just really any multitude of outfits. Great for fall!

The coloring of it is interesting enough to make it unique but also simple that it can be used as a basic, and layered with colours, jewelry, or a nice jacket.

Money & Your Fall Wardrobe

Money & Your Fall Wardrobe

My blog is not sponsored by anyone and I have no incentive to encourage you to go and buy something. This blog is an honest reflection of my frugal but fashion-focused thoughts. I love saving money much more than spending it, which might sound counterintuitive, but forces me to be more creative. As I look in my closet and think about what I need to add to it to transition into the fall, I just can’t help but think that I have so many outfits I’ve never worn hiding in my own closet already.

We all know the feeling of staring in your jam-packed closet, bursting at the seams, and having nothing to wear. This is the result of clutter. If you have too much crap you will not be able to actually see what you have and make use of it – therefore less is more. The less you have, the more familiar you are with what you have and the more you can make use of it. Less clothes doesn’t mean less outfits. When your closet is full and you’re not sure what it is you have, you fall back on the small portion of familiar clothes anyways, and only wear a small percentage of your awesome wardrobe. So get rid of items you haven’t worn in the last year, and start fresh! It’s all about efficiency! Fewer beautiful pieces will serve you better than a closet full of mishmash. Spend your money on fewer, but better quality pieces which you will get the most use out of. Read more
