Quick little bun for long hair

Pretty much everything I do is simple, and as the saying goes “Necessity is the mother of invention“. What is necessary for me is to be able to have a shower in the morning and wash my hair before work but not spend a million hours straightening, or curling, or styling it, because that’s not what mornings are for.

What I’ve been trying to do is come up with simple ways to put up my hair instead of just sporting a ponytail all the time. Although my hair is dry below (it’s second day hair), I will often wash my hair and blow dry just the roots. If I then braid it, or put it up, I look put together, I don’t have to leave my house looking like I just ran out of the shower, my hair dries nice and smooth, and it takes no time at all!

The good thing about this hairstyle is you only need 1 elastic, and it will still hold marvelously! Believe me this is key for those of us with thick hair. If I can put it up and not have it come down, I’m a happy camper. You can do this quick little bun on the go or after you’ve left the house, because it’s that simple. I did mine in 30 seconds but I’m sure with a little hairspray and a few more minutes you can dress this baby up, and make yours neater than mine.

So without further ado, here’s my bun:

Steps:

1. Start with a simple pony tail

2. Twist it all around. Make sure you twist it tightly for a neater look.

3. Tie a knot. Literally tie a knot with your hair. It will surprisingly hold very tightly if your hair is long enough to pull all the way through.bun tutorial @splatteshare

3. Pin as needed.bun tutorial @splatteshare

4. And that’s it! Now go do your make up 😛bun tutorial @splatteshare bun tutorial @splatteshareLet me know what you think, and share your quick getting ready ideas with me!
