We all know that fashion possesses an enormous power to make us feel, act, and behave as she pleases. Put on a pair or pumps, or stilettos and all of a sudden your shoulders are no longer touching the ground. You stand up straight, your head held high and ready to strut. They key of course is to find comfortable heels. you need to be able to prolong this sense of confidence and actually WALK, rather than sit in a corner and look pretty. And let’s be honest, how pretty do you look when you’re twitching in agonizing pain, trying to hide the blood on your toes???
I want to share my three absolute favorite pairs which have allowed me to survive hours and hours on my feet! The good news? They are all super affordable and comfortable. The bad news? 2 out of the 3 I’m going to mention were boutique purchases and I cannot find them again. Sorry guys! So why am I sharing if I can’t tell you where to pick up a pair? Perhaps some of you have come across these shoes and can point ME in the right direction. But another reason is I want to share some style inspiration and a few of the lessons I learned on picking a comfy shoe from owning the following:
Nine west Pumps – “Rochas”:
Ok, now these you can definitely go ahead and purchase. They’re widely available in Nine West stores as well as The Bay. I originally bought the burgundy pair on a whim – mainly because they were on sale for $59.99. Since then, they have served me so well that I picked up a second black pair. The black and nude don’t tend to go on sale but are both very reasonably priced at $100 – for the use you’ll get out of them it’s a bargain!! The key to these shoes being absolute perfection for the office is the slight platform, which adds to the height as well as the comfort! The soft leather is also a very important – as with all of the following pumps! To prolong the longevity of your shoe try a pair of Clickless caps. Clickless recently sent me some samples, and not only can people at the office no longer hear me coming from a mile away but the heels of my shoes are now protected. I wish I had done this way sooner!
Aahh my Via Unos. I almost got these stolen at a party once, by a girl who thought these were her Louboutins. They are not Louboutins but I am willing to bet they are more comfortable! (No idea how they got away with the red sole… I think this was before the big law suit verdict). Via Uno are hand made Brazilian leather shoes which unfortunately I can no longer find. By owning these gorgeous babies I learnt the importance of a soft insole and a high quality leather. You would never thing that they’re comfortable just by looking at them because the heel is so high and hot! But quite frankly these are my go-to party shoes and I’ve survived many nights in these life-savers. I’m definitely frightened at the thought that they will likely have to see the end at some point, but I’ll know to find a suitable replacement with a slight platform, a soft inside, and excellent leather.
I discovered this Italian boutique on Yonge and Lawrence but by the time I was ready to go back for more they were gone! Oh well at least I got the one…
What I love about these shoes is the heel and how thin it is without being uncomfortable. If you notice to construction of the shoe you’ll see that there is a wide surface area connecting the heal to the sole which prevents the heal from digging into you like a dagger. I wear these to the office all the time and they’re extremely versatile due to both the sleek and timeless the design and the colour. If I could by them again I would, so if you see these anywhere… you know what to do 🙂
