Valentine’s Day is 2 days away and it’s a long weekend! That’s 3 days to look fun and flirty!
Do you know what yo’ll be wearing yet? Here are a few friendly tips and suggestions from Lookbook Store:
Crochet Sheath Dress – $30.28!
This shade of burgundy looks good on any skin colour. It’s a beautifully romantic colour fit perfectly for this colder time of year. I absolutely love the feminine shape of this dress and the lace detail. This is the kind of dress that will make me feel good. It’s covered, and isn’t too short, but hugs your curves at just the right places! And for the price? Wow!
I would wear this dress with black tights and likely black high heel boots, along with a fun blazer or beautiful cardigan to stay warm. Read more
The Grammy’s came and went and while we can all agree it was Sam Smith’s night who, mind you, looked sharp! We can’t forget about the rest of the Red Carpet.
I do want to mention that while they didn’t make it into my favorites, we did see a lot of sheer dresses (Jessie J, Kat Graham, Beyoncé, Meghan Trainor, Katy Perry), high slits and super low plunging necklines (Kim Kardashian, Ashanti, Lady Gaga, Paris Hilton, Nicki Minaj). So if that’s your thing, there was that. I tend to gravitate towards looks that are flattering and showcase a woman’s figure but not bare it all. A hint of cleavage is sexy to me, but bordering on a nip slip isn’t. With that in mind here’s my roundup of my favorite looks from the Grammy’s: Read more
I recently attended the Mode Accessories Show where I witnessed many beautiful and unique gems. Today I want to share with you a brand that touched me beyond the physical beauty of its pieces. I was very lucky to not only get a glimpse of MaLu’s spring line but get to know the woman behind the brand – Maria Luisa.
Maria, a school teacher so wholeheartedly devoted to her kids, started the “Start me up” breakfast program at the school she was teaching in at the time. The program quickly became successful and grew from the $500 Maria began with to receiving a $100,000 grant from Sun Life Financial. The Toronto District School Board took notice and modeled their own nutrition programs after Start Me Up. The name, by the way, was created by the kids themselves which earned them a well-deserved pizza party for their efforts! But the school where Start Me Up originated had to close down which was hugely upsetting to Maria. Read more
I wanted to share a quick makeup tutorial of a look I created when we went to the Garrison in Toronto to watch my friend’s band perform.
I recently picked up a lot new makeup at yet another sale. I’ll be posting a complete haul in the next few days, but one of my new purchases included a fantastic gold eye shadow by L’Oreal. In fact I went a bit buck wild when it came to eye shadows, and that’s what this look is revolved around. Read more
This year was my first year attending the Mode Accessories show and I totally felt like a kid in a candy store! So many beautiful things everywhere, such interesting and unique pieces, and just a great overall atmosphere. I already can’t wait for next year. The show was massive so I’m going to keep this super brief and just mention a few cool brands I came across today: Read more
Whether you’re figuring out what to wear this weekend, or reworking your closet from scratch the key to building a stellar wardrobe is versatility. You want to make sure your pieces have multiple purposes and can be worn essentially anywhere! A fun way to do that is by grabbing some colourful, tailored tops and pairing them with all sorts of different bottoms!
This is a Brody Miles top I got at Winners a little while back and i absolutely love it. I wear it on weekends with dark denim, brown boots, and a camel blazer:
Here is my beautiful and final headband from Pink Pewter!
Sometimes simplicity is key. This headband is so beautiful, that I chose to keep my hair super simple by just pinning back my hair. This look makes me feel super girly and dolled up just by popping this sparkling beauty in my hair! Read more
Looking cute is a must, but dressing appropriately is paramount! Since Monday to Friday mornings usually consist of attempting to look adorable while pulling something from your closet with your eyes still half shut, anything to calm us down and reclaim some time in the morning is certainly welcome! I find that having an organized work wardrobe is just the ticket! You want to make sure that your pieces are interesting and reflect your personality, but versatile and can be mix-and-matched at the same time.
1. Invest in versatile dresses
Dresses that can go from season to season with the simple addition of a cardigan are a great investment since you’ll get the most use out of them. Pretty much as long as the fabric isn’t too thin and summery you’re good to go!
Well we’re officially into award season and red carpet events are in full swing. This weekend we saw one of the most exciting and star studded red carpets, filled with beautiful stars, heart warming speeches, and some definite trends.
What stood out to me was the amount of super low V’s – some more tasteful than others, LOTS of mettallics, followed by beautiful light yellows, and whites. Of course no matter the year no red carpet is complete without a few dramatic reds, blues/navys, and black.
As I delve further into blogging, and explore the journey of building my own brand, my voice, and ultimately becoming a ‘real’ blogger I can attest to all of the 9 lessons the book seeks to teach us. It doesn’t matter where you currently are in your life the lessons shared are meant to put you on your own individual path to happiness. Not everyone will have a rich cousin to send them around the world in search of enlightenment, but it makes for a good story, and reading this book will get you one step closer to repatriating your mind with fresh, unique, feel-good-because-I’m-awesome ideas. Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean our clothes have to reflect the drab colour scheme of slushy days. Instead why not embrace the cold and bundle up in cute cozy knits, and fun detail? Let’s spice up this weather with adorable outfits that will make you look and feel fabulous!
A great place to start is Lookbook Store. I absolutely love this website!! There are way too many awesome pieces to list, but here are some great picks:
Winter is not all doom and gloom. It’s a time to be cozy, layer up and bundle up. Sure it’s cold, but that means over-sized sweaters and cute hats. It also means winter scents – indoors and out. And if you’re into winter sports there’s also that! Among all those wonderful things I do have a few favorites. And while I’m no Oprah, here are a few of my favorite winter products:
1. My Awesome Olive Headband: from Little Burgundy *PS. It just went on sale
Last year I was rocking the beanie, this year this headband is my go-to. You can wear it over your hair if it’s down, or pull your hair through and wear it up. Read more
The challenge? Create the perfect look for a New Year’s Eve wedding! The biggest hurdle here was narrowing down the choices since there are as many possibilities as there are colours!
Whether you’re planning a party or a wedding and looking for a dress for your bridal party, Weddington Way is a great place to start. Unlike retail stores Weddington Way lets you customize your dress(es) meaning each bridesmaid will end up with the perfect dress. Sure you can do that in specialty bridal boutiques as well, but the price difference is huge! Weddington way lets you customize your dress based on colour, theme, style, length etc. AND is very reasonably priced. You`re sure to find something you and your entire bridal party will like.
I had a hard time narrowing down the selection but here are my top 5 looks. You can view my entire inspiration board here on my Pinterest page.
1. Red & Gold
Red and gold are always a classic party look! I find this particular dress both sexy and elegant and definitely a classic for years to come. Have fun with your accessories – stick to a theme but everything doesn’t have to match!
The sleep people at Casper asked me to share some ideas and participate in their Beauty Sleep Style Challenge. We all know that sleep is important but probably underestimate how important it really is. In fact Arianna Huffington gave a great TED talk about sleep a few years back. Check out the link – it’s sure to give you some perspective!
Not only is sleep a necessary tool to rest our body and mind in order to rejuvenate and replenish our well of ideas for the next day, but it’s also a chance for our skin to take a break and relax. I’m a very low maintenance girl but no matter what I must perform my bedtime routine… or my skin will hate me the next day. I always always always take off my makeup before bed, cleanse my face(my favorite is L’Oreal facial cleanser) dab gently to dry and apply moisturizer. It takes all of 3 minutes of your time but those 3 minutes before bed make a world of difference!
Hi lovelies! Here’s some outfit inspo for the weekend. I wore this look to the office, but I would totally wear it on the weekend too. I’ve been quite obsessed with these pants lately. I love the colour and how comfortable & fun, yet work appropriate they are at the same time. Black and white with some metallic detailing is of course very easy to pull off with an olive colour but there is plenty more to be paired with these pants! For starters any neutral looks great with olive – think beige, navy, brown, cream etc. At the same time if you consider complimentary colours you can easily pair different shades of orange with olive for a bold fall/winter look. We all know that fashion possesses an enormous power to make us feel, act, and behave as she pleases. Put on a pair or pumps, or stilettos and all of a sudden your shoulders are no longer touching the ground. You stand up straight, your head held high and ready to strut. They key of course is to find comfortable heels. you need to be able to prolong this sense of confidence and actually WALK, rather than sit in a corner and look pretty. And let’s be honest, how pretty do you look when you’re twitching in agonizing pain, trying to hide the blood on your toes???
I want to share my three absolute favorite pairs which have allowed me to survive hours and hours on my feet! The good news? They are all super affordable and comfortable. The bad news? 2 out of the 3 I’m going to mention were boutique purchases and I cannot find them again. Sorry guys! So why am I sharing if I can’t tell you where to pick up a pair? Perhaps some of you have come across these shoes and can point ME in the right direction. But another reason is I want to share some style inspiration and a few of the lessons I learned on picking a comfy shoe from owning the following:
I’m normally pretty girly but I also love to try new things! Be it new products, new foods, or a new activity I’m usually game.
Skydiving? Of course! Let’s do it!
This weekend I tried something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time – shooting! We went to a gun range in Brantford (West of Toronto… WAY WEST). A word of caution if you’re trying to book for a Saturday keep in mind that it’s the busiest day so you’ll have to book way in advance. If you’re heading down on a weeknight, which is what we did, give yourself time to battle 401 traffic. When you finally make it there, it’s going to feel like you’ve reached the end of the world, but as soon as you step inside you’ll find the guys working there to be very friendly and welcoming. I had no idea what to expect so I thought I would at least try to look the part. Here’s the look: Read more
